Vanagon Camping in Nehalem Bay State Park
Rainy forecast and freezing temperatures weren’t enough to keep us from jumping in our beloved Vanagon to go camping a couple weekends ago! The Wet Westies group puts together this yearly event in February at the Nehalem Bay State Park Campground. Basically a bunch of Volkswagen bus, vanagon and eurovan fanatics get together to catch up around campfires and potlucks. Right up our alley!
We shared our camping spot with our good friends Paul, Sara and Ben (and their dogs Lucas and Penny of course).
Thank goodness too because Paul is getting very skilled at getting us un-stuck from places. Yep, we keep getting stuck in snow and sand despite owning a 4WD Syncro Vanagon! Turns out our viscous coupling is shot and our whole transmission is currently being rebuilt.
I took all these shots with my trusted Fujifilm X-T3 (Amazon) by the way, paired with the amazing Mitakon 35mm f/0.95 (Amazon). If you’ve missed it, you can read all about my thoughts on this lens here. A few others were taken with the great Venus Optics Laowa 9mm f/2.8 (Amazon) and my iPhone 7 Plus.
This event was a great opportunity to refill my collection of vangon portraits (aka WestFolio).
